Varian Data Conversion

Varian has made its conversion of raw data to PEAKS usable data as easy as it gets. There type conversion tool is embedded in their data acquisition software. The raw data is converted to .pkl files that is immediately usable by PEAKS.

The .trans type data (raw) is converted in their programs by clicking "File", "SaveAs" and selecting the .pkl file format or by clicking "File", right clicking "Export" and selecting ".pkl". If you are viewing a chromatogram with the Varian software all the spectra data in the viewed chromatogram is converted to the .pkl format. Likewise, if you are viewing a single spectra and choose to convert the data, only the viewed spectra will be converted.

Be sure not to have any preprocessing performed on the raw data. PEAKS will give better results using the preprocessing options that is native to PEAKS.
